Athenian Modernism apt.
Renovation of a typical Athenian apartment of modernist architecture in 60s’. The one floor apartment redesigned to answer the needs of the contemporary way of life without sacrificing its character and fundamental design element.
A master bedroom with an en suite bath was added to the primary layout, when the kitchen space moved from the back side of the building to the front zone to get connected with the dining area and the living room. Paying respect to apartment’s exceptional design of 1958, all the bare cement ceilings and beams were refreshed, as well as the patterned geometrical floor, the minimalistic fireplace and the custom-made furniture. All these examples of polished craftsmanship were complemented with new custom designed wooden compositions for the bedroom, the library and the baths.
The styling approach to the space has a masculine tone and balances between shades of black, white and grey with some splashes of blue and cinnamon matched with American walnut, aiming to frame or emphasize the existing abstract architectural concept, a tribute to the postwar architecture modernism.
